Sicily (Under the Bridges)

I somehow ended under this massive twin bridge in Sicily. That was fortunate, as it gave me the opportunity to capture this disorienting view of another example of man conquering nature.

Sicily (Village)

A sleepy village perched on a hill in central Sicily. While the weather was chilly and there was a slight drizzle, it was perfect to capture the varied lighting falling on the hillside and buildings, and gave the clouds a rather dramatic tension.

Castellammare del Golfo

Castellammare del Golfo is a sleepy little town near the northern tip of Sicily, named after the fortress at the sea. I drove past it during the day, and saw this scene from a viewing platform. I decided to come back after dark. And I was rewarded by this clear view of the town's lights jutting into the sea. The strong colorization in the upper and lower parts of the photo is due to street lights, which record differently on film depending on the type of light source.

Rock formations at tonnara

Lonely Planet mentioned this unlikely tourist destination near Scopello in northern Sicily. The tuna is gone, but the view and seagulls remain. The jagged rock formations reminded me of the karst hills of Guilin, China.
